Term 2 Week 1 Update
Welcome back to Term 2 everyone. I hope that even with the extraordinary circumstances of the current times that you were able to have a break and enjoy some family time over the school holidays. This term will certainly bring challenges but I am confident we can work through them together as a community.
The Remote Learning model will re-commence from Wednesday 29 April in Phase Zero, similar to the end of last term. Learning packs are now available to collect from the school hall. Families who are able to keep their children home to learn remotely are asked to please do so to assist us with social distancing. Those students who are unable to learn from home are welcome to attend school.
We have been directed to discontinue use of drinking bubblers. When your child/ren attends school, please ensure that they have a full water bottle clearly marked with their name.
During this time, K-2 students will meet in 2/3W and 3-6 students will meet in 5CC for roll call. All students will be working from their work packs whether they are at home or school during the remote learning phases. Please ensure your child brings their learning pack to school.
On Monday 11 May, we will move into Phase One of the managed return to school for students. In this phase, all NSW students will attend school one day per week and learn remotely 4 days per week. It is anticipated that all NSW students will increase the number of days at school before the end of the term, under the advice of NSW Health. There will be additional cleaning during the day at school and social distancing measures in place.
During Phase One, students will go directly to their classrooms on their rostered day to be marked off and all other students in attendance will report to the library for roll marking. This will allow us to make appropriate arrangements and report on attendance patterns. We continue to encourage parents to drop off and pick up children from the gates.
From Week 3, the gate near the K-2 grassed area will be open for Kindergarten and Year 1 pick up to assist in social distancing.
Phase One rostered attendance will be arranged by sporting house groups as follows:
Monday - Birubi
Tuesday - Hannah
Wednesday - Kingsley
Thursday - Morna
The Birubi Class’ rostered day will be Mondays.
If you are unsure about your child’s house group, please contact your child’s teacher. All Kindergarten families will be contacted by their teacher via Class Dojo to inform them about their child’s house.
We anticipate that Phase One will run for a few weeks and will keep you updated as things change. I have attached the Department’s Managed Return Plan that is included in this update.

In closing, I would like to say how much I have enjoyed seeing the many photos and pieces of work emailed into the school showing how our students have gone about their remote learning tasks. I would also like to thank the school community for their kind words and well wishes over the last few weeks. The ABPS team, students and wider community have done amazing things during a very difficult time, I have been so proud to be a part of this community and extend my thanks to everyone for your efforts.
